Lori Hikiji
Licensed Mental Health Counselor &
Registered Play Therapist
I’m passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and even some young adults as they navigate life’s challenges—whether they’re facing anxiety, emotional outbursts, grief, trauma, or growing pains they don’t yet have words for. My approach to therapy is rooted in warmth, playfulness, and deep respect for each child’s unique story. I believe that when children feel safe, understood, and accepted, they’re able to build resilience, express themselves authentically, and develop the tools they need to thrive.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with young people from all walks of life—in school settings, community mental health, and private practice. These experiences have deepened my belief in the power of play and connection, and they’ve shaped my commitment to providing individualized, compassionate care.
As a Registered Play Therapist, I use therapeutic play as a powerful tool to help kids (and adults, too!) explore their feelings, make sense of their experiences, and find their voice—all at their own pace and in their own way.

My Approach
My approach is rooted in the belief that children communicate best through play. Play therapy allows kids to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe, developmentally appropriate way. As a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I’ve completed extensive, specialized training to use therapeutic play techniques that foster healing, growth, and resilience. My warm and nurturing approach also makes me well-liked among parents who are seeking help for their own mental health needs.
I strive to create a warm, accepting environment where every client feels seen, heard, and supported—just as they are. My sessions are child-led, strength-based, and grounded in trust. I also collaborate closely with parents and caregivers, offering guidance and insight to support the child’s progress outside of the therapy room.
Whether your child is facing big emotions or just needs a safe space to process life, I’m here to help them feel more confident, connected, and empowered.
