Sophie Francksen

Mental Health Counselor & Art Therapist

I am an art therapist and counselor who works with adolescents and adults as they navigate emotional challenges, life transitions, and moments of uncertainty. I believe creativity, play, and curiosity can open meaningful pathways to healing and growth—especially when words alone are not enough. My work is collaborative and strengths-based, making space for imagination, storytelling, and exploration in ways that feel natural and supportive.

In sessions, you may find conversation alongside art-making or playful moments that help thoughts and feelings take shape in new ways. I aim to create a flexible, welcoming space where curiosity is encouraged, experimentation is safe, and each person’s unique story is honored. When clients feel accepted and understood, they are better able to express themselves authentically and discover tools that help them move forward with confidence.

My Approach

I believe the person who knows you best is you, and that meaningful growth builds on the strengths you already have. My work is grounded in a person-centered, strengths-based approach that supports clients in recognizing, trusting, and expanding their existing abilities. Together, we explore new perspectives, develop practical skills, and connect with your values and interests to support growth that feels authentic and sustainable.

I provide both traditional talk therapy and art therapy, tailoring the approach to each client’s needs and preferences. My work emphasizes collaboration, curiosity, and respect for each client’s lived experience. I strive to create a space where clients feel supported, understood, and empowered to engage thoughtfully in their own process.

When art therapy is part of our work, creative processes may be used as tools for expression, reflection, and exploration—particularly when experiences are difficult to put into words. Other sessions may focus entirely on conversation and skill-building. The structure of sessions is flexible and guided by what feels most helpful in the moment.

Regardless of the approach, our work together focuses on fostering self-awareness, strengthening self-esteem, building emotional resilience, gaining insight, and reducing distress. Creativity and playfulness are welcomed as supportive elements of the therapeutic process, offering space for connection, openness, and new possibilities.
